Tennessee Williams and the Grotesque

Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to work with White Horse Theater Company in developing a podcast that accompanies their upcoming show at The Players Club on Gramercy Park.

On February 9th, White Horse is premiering their version of Tennessee Williams' A Perfect Analysis Given by a Parrot which is one of Williams' more grotesque plays. What does grotesque mean in regards to this piece of theater? Listen to Tennessee Williams scholar Dr. Annette J. Saddikand find out!

Tennessee Williams scholar Dr. Annette J. Saddik helps contextualize A Perfect Analysis Given by a Parrot by providing listeners with a bit of background on where the pay falls within TW's cannon.  In her book as well as the podcast Dr. Saddik argues that the grotesque is not only the key to unlocking  Williams' later plays/performance, but it is actually the key to understanding all his works.  In addition, she helps us understand the meaning of the Parrot in the play.
